BL Couple of the Week

“Wait a minute,” you say, “But that’s not canon!”

To which I would say: a. I said canon AND plausible, not just canon, and b. the manga called and…

…it is laughing at you.

Anyway, Shinji is the lead of the fan-favorite harem in disguise srs biznes Neon Genesis Evangelion. He whines a lot, or so I’ve heard – I honestly haven’t watched it or read the manga. Kaworu is the obligatory creepily ambiguous male character. Both of them pilot mechas and angst, especially Shinji.

Ok, look, I only discovered the fact that this has some semblance of canon because I’m a total 4ch /cm troll. I have no intention of ever watching this. I once watched five episodes and then stopped because I really couldn’t stand the main characters (Shinji is a whinebox, Asuka is a bitch, and Rei has the emotional range of a rock – thanks, I’ll skip). But you know what? I don’t care. Enjoy the photos.

Oh, and just for shits and giggles…

You really should just skip to the few episodes that do involve Kaworu (like, what, one?) and enjoy the canon-ness (but not the lame angst)

@ issa-sa – Which reminds me I swear that Evangelion is really just harem in disguise… one of those less common harems which feature both female and male haremettes, but a harem nonetheless. Someone at Gainax went, “Hey, let’s make a harem!” And someone said, “Yeah, but that’s been done a million times… uh… let’s add robots!” and the first person leaped up on their desk and yelled, “SWEET! When do the figures come out?” And then they asked Hideaki Anno to direct and a lot of people were like, “What? This is depressing/I’m confuzzled…” so they had to make that ‘Angelic Days’ manga to make the harem-lovers happier.

Yeah, I’m done ranting now. But if I ever do touch any Eva, it’ll be the manga ’cause… I dunno, reading the manga seems like less of an effort than watching the show.

Haha, as a Kaworu/Shinji and NGE fan I just love that scene. It’s so funny when the author just know what the fandom wants, ’cause it wasn’t necessary at all for the plot; but I will never ever complain about this!
