Our Half-Assed Autumn Preview, Part Three

You know, I’d like to know why ALL the autumnally-themed anime pictures I can find on Google are either from harem or BL series.

We’re doing this from a rest-stop somewhere in bumfuck Virginia – enough said.

Kurogane no Linebarrels

Summary: Kouichi Hayase was involved in an accident and falls into a coma for half a year. Due to this accident he becomes depressed and lonely. However, unbeknownst to him he attained a great power and three years later a giant robot (Linebarrel), which was the cause for the incident, appears before him, causing Kouichi’s life to change. (AniDB)

Thoughts:

Day: The summary is a bit meh, but the title is so badass, I don’t care.

Depth: Mecha and people in black suits? Reminds me of Big O. I’ll watch the first episode even though it sounds seriously unoriginal.

Ga-Rei-Zero

Summary: Freshman Nimura Kensuke has the ability to see ghosts, and his life changes when he meets Kagura, a girl with the power to summon a “Ga-Rei” called Byakuei. The two work together to find evil spirita and devour them with the Ga-Rei. (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: This sounds just like Bleach’s summary, except instead of ‘zanpakutou’ they’re using ‘ga-rei’, which sounds like maybe some kind of creature/spirit-thing. Pass.

Depth: I have a confession – I don’t like Bleach. I didn’t like Venus Versus Venus. I didn’t like Monochrome Factor. All of these sound just like this with very slight variations. No thanks.

Macademi Wasshoi!

Summary: Magician’s Academy revolves around Takuto Hasegawa, who attends a magic academy that is not marked on any map. During a summoning spell exam, he accidentally creates a girl named Tanarot, who happends to hold enough magical power to destroy his country, but fortunately Tanarot professes undying loyalty to her “creator.” (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: What the fuck is up with those character designs? Ugh.

Depth: If it sounds like harem, looks like harem, smells like harem, and lacks anything I might like (nuns, yuri, blood, modern-yaki, etc.), I’m not watching – this fulfills all those criteria.

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka

Summary: In order to protect the girl Yuuhi Katagiri, a new transfer student, from danger, Junichi Nagase is forced to kiss her. Not understanding what happend, she screams at him, not knowing that her father has arranged for her to marry him. (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: Err, that sounds inspiring. I thought there was going to be a sibcon harem-type show this autumn? Guess this isn’t it.

Depth: See ‘Madademi Wasshoi!’.

ef – a tale of melodies

Summary: Sequel of ef – a tale of memories that will probably follow Yu and Mizuki more than the previous season.

Thoughts:

Day: I do keep meaning to watch the first season… but then I get off-put by the inclusion of an emotionally unstable female who falls apart because of the fact that the guy doesn’t pick her, and I always hate the inclusion of those type of characters. So I probably won’t watch it.

Depth: Is there anything I’m gonna like this season? I’m starting to feel desperate.

Casshern Sins

Summary: Cassern is about a cyborg who rises against the robotic armies that have subjugated all of humanity. (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: Hmm, the original looks boring, but it seems like they’re trying to make the remake badass. I’ll check it out.

Depth: What Day said.

Kuroshitsuji

Summary: One of the noble families of England – Phantomhive, has a butler, Sebastian Michaels. He has unquestionably perfect knowledge, manners, talent with materials. martial arts and much more. But he serves a 12 year old master. (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: Ok, I like BL, and, yes, this has a feeling of BL to it, but… erk, shouta? No thanks.

Depth: BL? Noooo… although the family name makes me giggle.

Kyou no Go no ni

Summary: An ecchi, school-life comedy show about Ryota Satou and his hilarious events and, often perverted, situations that he goes through and ends up in. (ANN)

Thoughts:

Day: Kids and ecchi always makes me feel uncomfortable when paired =\

Depth: I’ll check it out because… I dunno, I just will to pass the time.

Ok, we got to get back on the road, so we’re cutting this off now before we end up as the sequel to Deliverance.

  1. oh no no, do watch ef season 1. I can’t call it the best anime ever, but it’s my own number 1 favorite, so everyone should be, if nothign else, subjected to it.
