Is there some kind of rule that states that every season of Jigoku Shoujo MUST have a really stupid episode involving pets?
Once upon a time a woman, Mioi, accidentally insulted her neighbor, Shintani. Shintani was a freak, so she never got over it, and started to torture Mioi by making it look like her dog was acting up. She also gossiped to other residents of their condominium complex, so that they all began to think poorly of Mioi. Mioi was a weirdo about her dog, in that her life was devoted to the little thing, but she wasn’t a bad person. Then one day, Shintani poisoned her dog. As Mioi walked home from the vet with her dog, Kikuri rode by on her trike and suggested the Jigoku Tsuushin. Mioi went home and logged on, got the straw doll, but didn’t pull the string immediately.
Later on, Mioi had a confrontation with Shintani on the roof, in which Shintani expressed regret that she hadn’t given the dog enough poison, and then scattered the training pads from a shipment that she’d intercepted which had been intended for Mioi. Mioi gets stuck cleaning them all up, but one gets wedged outside of the railing. Mioi jumps the railing to get it, slips, and screams for help as she dangles off the edge of the building. Her dog comes to her, but is carrying the straw doll. Mioi tries to grab for the bottom of the railing, but accidentally pulls the red thread on the straw doll, then falls off the building.
Shintani goes to hell, and is tortured by the hell crew as a sentai team in dog robots. Yuzuki, who had coincidentally managed to meet and become friends with Mioi earlier in the episode, visits Mioi are the hospital, as she somehow survived the fall – but her arms are broken, her skull might be, and she’s on oxygen. Mioi comments that its awful that the hospital doesn’t allow dogs.

Ok, look, I’ll give it credit – Mioi went to the Jigoku Tsuushin because Shintani was actually torturing her, so it wasn’t just about the dog, which is what we saw happen once in both the first and second seasons. So, yeah, it was a little more legit… but good lord, she pulled the string by accident as she was falling off a roof? And she fell something like five stories and survived? Yeah, a guy in New York fell something like ninety stories earlier this year, but he was saved because he hit a shit-ton of scaffolding on the way down! This woman just fell!
What a lame episode.
